The trouble with the guys...

I am picturing the perfect first date: a quiet night, a lovely dinner and a stroll through the city while the couple is talking and laughing... it all is topped by the perfect first kiss in front of her door...

What a nice fairytale. The reality looks different. In reality we got tinder, lovoo and what feels like an endless amount of dating apps, that all aim on finding the fastest fuck.

My dating disaster begins in 2015 when I got single again. I am 25, German, well-educated, digital fashion marketing manager and I don't ask for much; just a decent, intelligent nice guy. What I got on various dates was more like a never-ending freakshow... talking to my friends I realized: all girls have the same problem. We all are tortured by horrible dates and indescribable idiots, while all we want is someone, who appreciates us.

So this is for all the ladies out there. We are all suffering and on this blog I will describe my dates.

Man 1: The Teacher

I will start my story about dating at my current location: Melbourne, Australia. Why and when I came here, is part of another dating story that will come up later.

When I arrived here, I wasn't sure if I really wanted to install Tinder, after all in Germany it was more like an hook-up app; and I was definitely over having casual sex. Another reason was my focus on my career and studies. I am convinced that women have every potential to be highly successful and I planned nothing less but to become a CEO of a worldwide company within the next 7 years - so no time for dating. BUT... my girl friends here encouraged me to just try it out.

And so my first tinder date story started.
I began texting with someone. 28. Sporty. Teacher. He seemed interesting and he was an english teacher for kids; how bad could he be?! I had no idea.....

We met after one week of texting at a bar a little bit outside the city. When I arrived he was already sitting at a nice table at a really nice bar: high ceilings, chandeliers and a fine wine menu. Everything looked great and also the guy looked like his pictures (you girls know: that's not always the case... and I also know how much we girls cheat on our pics... sometimes even my own mother wouldn't recognize me after photoshop did its wonders on pics... but anyway)
The first surprise got me when he stood up... he didn't look extremely tall on his pictures but he was shorter than me! For the record: I'm 1,59 cm and I didn't wear heels.... he was a dwarf... or a hobbit...
But ok, don't judge a book by its cover, after all we did text for one week and he was nice! So I gave it a chance.

We got our drinks (one chardonnay for me, a whiskey for him (it's always a little bit sexy to see a guy drink a whiskey don't you think?)) and started talking. The beginning of our conversation was really nice. We talked about Australia and in comparison to that Germany, about sports and studies. And then he turned the topic to old relationships. Personally, I think it's always a bit strange to talk about exes on a first date but ok...
"So how many relationships did you have?"
"3. Two for 2 years, one rather short, half a year. And one that's not worth mentioning."
"Oh nice. And what did all your guys have in common?"
Well... for once they all slept with me... probably not the best answer....
"Puh I don't know... I never thought of that actually..."
"Well they must have something. Everyone has a pattern."
So I started thinking. My first guy was an IT student at that time; thanks to my stalking skills and Facebook provided information, I knew that he was an IT Phd by now. My second guy...lets not talk about that (total failure, but everyone has a black sheep story I guess). Then I dated a guy, who is now doing his Phd in Medicine and my ex is doing his Phd in Economics. The pattern was clear.
"Well they all have a Phd... guess that's my pattern: Intelligent guys."
"Oh." Awkward silence....
"I'm a teacher."
Well, what should I say to that? It's nothing I can argue about...
"Ach, that's ok!"
The talk kept on going a little bit about the fact that he only had one girlfriend for a long time, our families...stuff like that, but then things got strange...
"So can I ask you a personal question?"
"Yeah sure."
Not knowing what would come now....
"Do you like to give head or get head?"
ÄHM WHAT?! Did he just really ask that? I must have had delusional ideas!
"Excuse me?"
"Well, do you like to give a blowjob or get one?"
Oh thank you for spelling it out a little clearer.... WTF?! How could any guy ask that one a first date?! I drank a big sip of wine.
"That depends I guess...."
"I like to get head."
Wow. Surprising. Really. Guys like blowjobs. Groundbreaking. -.-'
But now he wasn't stopping...
"How many guys did you have?"
"10."
"Who was the best and why?"
What was wrong with him.... I hesitated to answer... The train to crazy town was on the move...
"Well let me tell you about my last affair..."
No. Please. Someone help me.
But he kept on talking...about bad sex with a fat, drunk girl. A story every girl wants to hear during a first date...
Thank god I finished my wine fast and he visited the bathroom. The perfect time to call my uber.
"So I just got my uber.... I have to get up early tomorrow..."
"Oh sure. You could also stay at my place."
Ähm, let me think abou....NO!
"No, no I have an early class tomorrow."
Btw, college didn't start yet.

I finally made it to the uber.
During the next days, the teacher texted me a couple times... obviously I didn't answer.

International Women's Day

Today is an important day - not because it's International Women's Day - but because everyday is precious.

In world's history women have shaped the world more than men want to admit it.

Cleopatra 69-30 BC:
The egyptian queen is the last queen of Egypt and was one of the most powerful women. She defended the empire from Rome. Her relationship to Julius Caesar probably is one of the most famous ;)

Joan of Arc (1412-1431):
The young girl from Orleans in France defended her country during the Hundred Year's War. She successful defeated the english occupation. But after her success we was accused of wizardry and got murdered by her own people.

Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603):
During a time of economic and social change in England, she ruled the empire and made it a superpower. In contrary to the expectations at that time, she never married and is called the "Virgin Queen".

Catharina the Great (1729-1796):
The young girl from Germany married the Russian tsar and eventually became the great Queen of russia. She started an education program and support the russian art.

Queen Victoria (1819-1901):
The english queen ruled the empire for 64 years and increased the countries global power. Under her rule the english occupied India and enriched the empires power. She spread her power by bringing her children in all royal dynasties in Europe.

Marie Curie (1867-1934):
The polish women was the first women to receive a Nobel Prize. She had a great influence on the scholarship of physics and chemistry. In 1911 she received her second Nobel Prize and with that was the first person to receive a Nobel Prize in two categories.

Coco Chanel (1883-1971):
Her name is known by almost everyone. The fashion brand "Chanel" is still today one of the most influential brands and her creations such as the "Little Black Dress" or "Chanel No.5" are today's classics. She founded her own business during a time a great men power and her success also survived the World War II.

Mother Teresa (1910-1997):
Her name stands for humanity and charity. She cared for 1000s of sick and dying people in Calcutta. For her devotion and loving work she received the Nobel Prize in 1979.

Anne Frank (1929-1945):
Her face became a symbol for the victims of the Holocaust during World War II and her diary is one of most widely read book.

Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993):
She is one the most beautiful women and was the famous actress of the 50s and 60s. After the end of her acting career in the mid 1960s she devoted herself to humanity work for UNICEF.

Grace Kelly/ Grace Patricia Grimaldi (1929-1982):
The beautiful women managed to become a world famous actress in Hollywood and the muse of Alfred Hitchcock. When she married the young prince Rainier III of Monaco, she became the princess of Monaco. With her the glamour moved to the little town and made it what it is today.

Meryl Streep (1949- ):
She is one of the most successful women of our time. No one has got more Oscar nominations and has won 3 Oscars (only 6 people achieved that until now). Despite her success she is down to earth and received the honorary doctorate of the Princeton University in 2009.

Anna Wintour (1949- ):
Who could imagine the fashion industry without her bob and the sunglasses? A young girl from London now is the most influential women in the fashion business. Her word forms and destroys the careers of designers and her sense of style has made the american VOGUE the fashion bible.

Angela Merkel (1954- ):
The mother of German success and current leader of Germany is the first  women to lead our country. Her negotiating power and prudence is Europe's foundation of peace.

Diana Frances Spencer/Diana Princess of Wales (1961-1997):
The young Diana married Prince Charles in 1981 and was strong enough to divorce him in 1996, when he kept on cheating. During her life she devoted herself to the poor and needy. Especially the Aids has been on her agenda.
Her death in a car crash in Paris made her a legend.

Michelle Obama (1964- ):
The wife of Americas first black president symbolizes power and intelligence. She not only supported her husband in becoming president but also encourages young women in America to build a career and be self-confident.

Angelina Jolie (1975 - ):
The famous actress soon felt that a Hollywood career is not enough for her. During the making of "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" in Kambodscha, she realized the devastating situation of the people there. Ever since she works for refugees and the UNO.

Amal Alamuddin Clooney (1978-):
The highly intelligent and brave women stands for humanity and human rights. As a lawyer for international rights and human rights.

Malala Yousafazai (1997- ):
She is a young Pakastani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize winner. When the Taliban banned girls from going to school she was not afraid and went anyway. She survived an attack on her life and got the face for young brave women fighting for what they believe in.

You have seen here the (for me) most extraordinary women in history. Women are stronger than men want to believe and this female power scares most men. Even in our modern times, too many women suffer from violence, terror or prejudice.

But every women should believe in her power, intelligence and ability to change the world. The women in my gallery did and formed the world that we are living in.

Have a wonderful International Women's Day!

A Weekend in Düsseldorf

The Kö Bogen

The Kö "Graben" and the amazing Kö

The best Bar in the city

Ever since I left Düsseldorf, I now realize how much I missed the city. My weekend there was amazing and the good weather made the day perfect! Especially the "Kö Bogen" (now that it is finally finished) looks stylish and cool.
In Düsseldorf the fusion between the old and modern finds it's perfection. The Kö Bogen introduces the modern, clean architecture while the rest of the Kö and the old city shows the traditional architectural art.

In my opinion the "Schlüssel" in the old town has the best "Altbier" and a great atmosphere! You should definitely visit it!

The Oscars - The worst Dresses ;)

One can't always be right... Still for the Oscars you should be sure. But there is always a next year ;)

Lady GaGa in Azzadine Alaia
Well we know that Lady GaGa is always up for crazy outfits (you will ever forget the meat dress ;) ), but cleaning glove for an oscar party? Not a good idea.

Marion Cotillard in Dior
Usually Marion Cotillard is known for her great style but personally I expected something "different". Still the women is a beauty and her talent can't not be denied.

Felicitas Jones in Alexander McQueen
The star of "Theory of Everything" decided to wear a little too much of everything. The pearl top could be pretty, but in combination with this horrible skirt (I personally hate these shiny skirts no matter if it's taft or silk, it somehow always looks cheap) it's just a No-Go.
Still I love her hair and that smile.... ;)

Solange Knowles in Christian Siriano
After her "wedding dress" I sadly didn't expect anything good from her, and she didn't disappoint me. There is just one word for this outfit - No!

Scarlett Johansson in Versace
Ach mann.... The dress could be so good! If it weren't for the necklace. That's simply too much. But I have to give her my greatest respect for that After-Baby-Body!

There can't be only pretty dresses in the world and I know one thing for sure: They will appear on the Oscars.

Still that's always entertaining ;)

Hi there!
This weekend we have been to Heidelberg!! All I can say it is an amazingly beautiful city! Definitely worth a visit. You can find a travel report on my blog, too.

About my outfit: When it's cold and I am on a city trip I always believe layering is the best method to keep you warm at any temperature. Right now I also love the dark colors and again my Louis.

As you could see on my latest pictures: I went back to my natural hair colour and decided on bangs. Tell me what you think about it! I am really not sure if blond looks so good on me :D

Food Guide for Heidelberg

Mandy's American Diner - The perfect Breakfast

As many of you may know the Americans have been stationed in Heidelberg years ago (Elvis himself has been there!). That is only one reason, why the city has a special flair. This weekend we chose to taste real american food. After so much time in Germany, without having been in the US for years, it felt wonderful to taste the well-known flavours again.

The "Mandy's Diner" is a little old wagon in the city centre of Heidelberg, with a real american atmosphere: old-school music by Berry White and Elvis, the smell of fresh french toast and pancakes and coffee as much as you want. But for you information: a reservation is not possible ;)
You can see the exact address on the map:
Speyerer Straße 1, Heidelberg

Stift Neuburg - The best Dinner you can get

In our modern times, where everything artificial seems to be more perfect than the nature itself (my man: "Why should I eat the same things that apes ate thousands of years ago?"), it's a pleasant surprise to find something different. The Klosterhof Neuburg in Heidelberg is such a lovely surprise!
The vegetable used in the food is cropped by the monks there, the beer is super tasty because the ingredients are pure and not artificially changed and the meat does not come from suffering animals.
The atmosphere at the farm is familiar and warm.

You can find the restaurant here (make sure you drive up the little street, passing the cloister):
Stiftweg 2, Heidelberg

Visit the website here

So I hope you got some inspiration for your next city trip ;)
